Men’s Sheds Canada was recently invited to participate in the Aging Vibrantly podcast, produced by Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario (EAPO). In this episode, Brian Sawyer, Outreach and Member Services Manager, and Robert Goluch, President of Men’s Sheds Canada, join the conversation to explore the powerful role Men’s Sheds play in supporting older men across the country.
Titled “Men’s Sheds Canada: Community Friendships and Connections,” the episode highlights how Men’s Sheds provide welcoming, community-based spaces where men—often older or retired—can come together to share skills and experiences, discover new interests, build friendships, and support one another.
For many men, aging and retirement can bring challenges such as loneliness, social isolation, and a loss of purpose. As discussed on the podcast, Men’s Sheds are a unique and growing movement that directly addresses these challenges by fostering connection, contribution, and belonging—improving both individual wellbeing and community health.
The conversation also aligns closely with EAPO’s focus on aging vibrantly, emphasizing prevention through connection, inclusion, and supportive community networks.
Listen to the episode on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and on Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario’s YouTube channel, or access it directly through EAPO’s website: https://eapon.ca/podcast/
We’re grateful to Elder Abuse Prevention Ontario for the invitation and for helping amplify the impact of Men’s Sheds across Canada.
